The Human Endocannabinoid System

The endocannabinoid system is a group of receptors, enzymes, and endogenous cannabinoids involved in various physiological processes of vital importance in the human body.  The system also mediates and controls the psychoactive effects of cannabis.  This means that the human body is naturally equipped with a system to ingest cannabinoids on a micro level, and it is also a system that can be used to create homeostasis in the body via cannabinoid regimens.
